Road Improvement Programs, North Branford & Seymour, CTSeveral roads within the Town of North Branford, Connecticut were in various states of disrepair. Many of these roads were oil and sand surfaces overlaying a macadam road base. Other roads including CT RTE 17 and CT RTE 22 had partial concrete bases and bituminous shoulders. A comprehensive roadway repair and renovation program was designed as part of six (6) separate utility construction contracts. Design elements included soil borings, test pits, drainage design, pavement analysis and traffic control. The Town of Seymour, Connecticut sought to repair and renovate several neighborhood and thoroughfare streets within the community. Nafis & Young evaluated the existing road conditions and determined the most cost effective method of roadway repair and reconstruction during utility construction projects. The final plan for these improvements included over 13,000 linear feet of roadway milling, reclaiming of over 11,000 linear feet of roadway and overlay paving of approximately 40,000 linear feet of residential, commercial and thoroughfare roads. This project also included over 30,000 linear feet of new bituminous concrete curbing and associated topsoil backing and seeding. The total value of these road improvements exceeded $600,000.00. |
