Reconstruction of Cosey Beach Avenue, East Haven, CT This project included the survey, planning design and construction administration for the construction of over 4,000 LF of coastal roadway. This project involved the reconstruction of a roadway which had deteriorated over the years from the effects of coastal flooding and poor roadway base. The roadway elevation was raised to provide safe escape for residents during coastal flooding. Project scope included storm water discharge permits, Coastal Area Management review, preliminary and final roadway design, construction documents and soils analysis. Improvements included 6,000 LF of concrete curbing and sidewalks, outfall storm sewer to Long Island Sound, relocation of water and gas utilities, horizontal and vertical roadway geometry, handicapped access to public beach area and new street drainage. Responsibilities included development of conceptual plans, preparation of local, state and federal permit applications, public information meetings, preliminary and final design plans, construction documents and construction administration. Construction phase responsibilities included project coordination, review of claims, extras and payment requests, shop drawing review and supervision of field inspectors.
